Summer School Course Statistical Methods for Causal Inference

Sanchayan Banerjee and Jack Fitzgerald will be organising the third edition of the summer school course Statistical Methods for Causal Inference at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam from 7-18 July 2025! The course will provide hands-on instruction in experimental methods, matching, difference-in-differences, instrumental variables estimation, regression discontinuity design, metascience, and machine learning for causal inference. This course covers the statistical literature’s state of the art and provides a great foundation for those looking to expand their skills in program evaluation, impact evaluation, or broader causal inference. This course is particularly intended for advanced graduates in social sciences who are planning to use causal inference designs for their research.

Previous cohorts have typically consisted of 20-25 students, who have previously earned up to 3 ECTS from this course. The course culminates in a final research project of your own choosing.
